Fragments of Experience
2021 - ongoing
Fragments of Experience is my ongoing ritual of experimental practice, started in 2021. I collect videos, photographs, sound, and text, captured in different moments of my life that reflect on/resonate with my cognitive, emotional, and sensory experiences.

I started using the gathered archive of material to create “internal landscapes” - editing, animating, manipulating, modifying the image and sound in order to reflect the state of mind by re-working the captured memory into created spaces, accompanied often by a poetic approach to philosophical, scientific, psychological, and social issues through the use of text/voice.

I find that the process has an aspect of healing through reimagining/reclaiming the experiences, piecing them together as an archive of one whole story, or my relationship with life, as well as studying the value of relationships formed with nature, spaces, and objects. I’m interested in how those mental and sensory relationships reflect one’s identity, and how the personal experience of the world is affected by the connections with the environment.

Fragments and a Glass of Light is one of the first research films created within the project, containing the core text written in September 2021 which guides the work thematically.

Here and What Made Me Be 10Hz | 2021 |​
MATERIALS: Black and white photographs of our flat in Surbiton (2020-22), house plants, objects, the feeling of home, black and white flicker. More photographs - taken in September 2021 in Poland, Osiedle Beskidzkie where I grew up, and where I lived again as a 18-19yo with a person who now passed away, Bielsko-BiaÅ‚a city centre visited with Sam, from a new perspective, then Kraków. Fragments of photographs.

MATERIALS: Black and white photographs, plants, windows, hair, mirrors, in our flat in Surbiton. Humming, text about happiness as a state read aloud turned into melodic sounds.

MATERIALS: Footage from the window in the same building at Goleszowska 14, where I lived as a child until around 16. Filmed during a visit to Poland in 2021 in my best friend’s flat, where she happened to live at the time. 13 black and white photographs of Beskidzkie with text.

MATERIALS: Multiple exposure shots developed in April 2023, with a soundtrack made out of the recoding of keyboard clicks while editing these frames. A moment of editing moments overlapped.
